Paparella Braid Devlet Museum - Villa Urania


The Paparella Treccia Devlet Museum is located in Pescara, inside Villa Urania, in the city center.

Villa Urania, now the seat of the Raffaele Paparella Treccia and Margherita Devlet Foundation, is a small building in an eclectic style dating back to the late nineteenth century.

The quadrangular building has a single level, but in the center emerges an attic ending in a gable.

The attic opens onto a terrace, supported by four Doric columns which are three arched openings in the center.

The villa was built by Baron Giandomenico Treccia, who dedicated to his beloved wife, Urania Valentini, this aristocratic summer residence built according to the taste of the time and located in the heart of the city of Pescara, at the time Castellammare Adriatico, a few steps away. from the sea.

The museum houses a collection of 151 selected masterpieces of Castelli's artistic majolica, arranged according to a chronological criterion, the work of the major castle masters active between the 16th and 19th centuries, including Francesco Grue (1618-1673), his son Carlo Antonio (1655-1723) and his nephew Francesco Antonio Saverio (1686-1746), as well as the main exponents of the Gentili, Cappelletti and Fuina families.
