Monument to the Aviators

The aircraft is a hybrid between the G and S versions having aesthetically almost all the peculiarities of the S version with the characteristic FS.36280 monogram coloration but without the characteristic lower fins in the caudal area, most likely it is a G.

The initiative of the Monument to the Aviator for the city of Ciampino was born several years ago on the proposal of the Arma Aeronautica Association, whose Section was established in 1993. In 2004, after the attribution of: Ciampino, city of flight, the Municipality shared the initiative, and the various administrations that succeeded each other, committed themselves several times to support the initiative.

The commitment, however, year after year, has had to leave room for the emerging socio-economic priorities that arise from time to time. In 2016 the Association reshaped the initiative and its pro-tempore President, Gen. Carlo Greco, recalling the previous municipal resolutions on the subject, proposed a project, in which, among other things, the various technical burdens were shared- financial.

The Municipal Administration confirmed its consent to the project hoping, in the short term, favorable times for its realization. The favorable opportunity presented itself, unexpectedly a few months ago, with the Extraordinary Administration and an improvement plan of the urban viability: the previous project of the Monument was reworked in view of its location in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, in conjunction with the refurbishment of the road network. It is dedicated to all Italian Aviators, where the term Aviators includes all those who operate and have worked, as a professional or enthusiast in the field of Aviation and Space without distinction of specialty and rank.
