Archaeological Museum of Santa Scolastica

The Archaeological Museum of Santa Scolastica, formerly known as the archaeological museum of Bari or the provincial archaeological museum of Bari, is an archaeological museum located in the city of Bari.

The collection includes materials and finds from the indigenous civilizations of the region (Daunia, Messapia, Peucezia) , dating back to periods ranging from prehistory to the Bronze Age, as well as jewelry from the Greek, Byzantine, Arab-Norman and medieval ages.

Established in 1875 with few artifacts collected by Professor Nitto De Rossi, it was opened to the public on 18 May 1890 in the seat of the Ateneo building (which since 1925 also housed the university), where it remained until 2000.
