Diocesan Museum


The Diocesan Museum Mons. Aurelio Sorrentino is located in the city of Reggio Calabria.

The Museum is located in the architectural complex of the archbishopric which houses the diocesan library and the diocesan historical archive.

The idea of setting up a diocesan museum in Reggio is relatively recent. Established by Msgr. Giovanni Ferro on 25 January 1957, the Museum receives new impetus during the episcopate of Msgr. Aurelio Sorrentino, who already on the occasion of the XXI National Eucharistic Congress.

In 1988, he promoted an exhibition "Figurations of the sacred: eight sculptors in the Reggio area between 800 and 900" in the premises destined to become a permanent exhibition space, promoted by the Provincial Administration of Reggio Calabria.
