Sobieski and Immaculate Conception Room - Vatican Museums

In the Vatican Museums, the Sobieski Room owes its name to the large canvas by the Polish painter Jean Matejko (1838-1893) representing the victory of the Polish king John III Sobieski against the Turks in Vienna in 1683.

The other paintings in the Hall are from the nineteenth century, as well as those in the Hall of the Immaculate Conception, characterized by a large display case, a gift from the French firm Christofle, in which books donated by kings, bishops, cities and dioceses to Pius IX (1846-1878) are kept. ) on the occasion of the institution of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.
