Righini Collection - Malvasia Castle of Panzano

Those who enter the area on the ground floor of the castle have the privilege of observing a wonderful collection of vintage cars and motorcycles.

The Righini Collection is a marvel for the eyes, it is a pity that the castle is open to the public for a couple of lives a year.

The part of the Righini Collection that can be visited is not huge, however it contains some very important pieces from the history of the car, sometimes unique pieces.

Absolutely unmissable, for fans. It is important to be accompanied by a guide. Inquire as it has no fixed opening hours.

The Malvasia Castle of Panzano
The construction of the complex, which still today shows its mighty mass to those who pass through Panzano, is due to Monsignor Innocenzo who, a century later, made changes to the medieval fortified structure that transformed it into a business and residential nucleus with Renaissance characteristics. The first to be completed was the owner's housing portion on the side of the Torbido canal, which was followed by the construction of a tower, presumably the one located to the south, completed in 1612.

At the end of the transformation works of the ancient structure: the palace-castle retained some typological characteristics of the feudal period, but also reflected the changed intentions of a city bourgeoisie who moved to the countryside with specific interests linked to agricultural activity; essential to its conformation was also the Turbid canal where the business complex had been reassembled. No other substantial intervention was carried out until 1867, when, with the death of Marc'Antonio, the presence of the Malvasias in Panzano ended.

The palace passed by testament to the Frosini family to have Eleonora, his daughter, married the Marquis Alessandro of that family. After just over a decade the property was sold to the Larco di Genova who sold it to the Marquis Giuseppe Negrotto, husband of Francesca Larco. From the Negrottos the estate passed to Cavalier Giovanni Lombardini and from these, in 1917, to Giovanni Orlandini, who owned it for long years marked by heavy neglect towards the building and damage resulting from the Second World War. The current ownership has restored the internal courtyards to their typical appearance and has provided for the maintenance made impossible to postpone by the many years of neglect.
