Academy of Arcadia - Angelica Library

The Academy of Arcadia is one of the oldest and most representative Italian academies. In fact, the first «Radunanza degli Arcadi», in which fourteen writers participated, including Giovan Mario Crescimbeni, who is the first General Custodian, is located in the garden of the convent of San Pietro in Montorio on 5 October 1690, an ideal continuation of the meetings held in the Roman palace of Queen Christina of Sweden, who died in 1689.

Arcadia is a book, archival and pictorial heritage that is often the object of preservation, restoration and promotion.

It is based at the Angelica Library, which houses the Archive and the Library, while the Picture Gallery is deposited at the Museum of Rome.

His historical residence, Bosco Parrasio, has been leased to private individuals for many years.

It annually proposes a series of conferences addressed not only to members but also to an educated and passionate public. He also publishes the "Biblioteca dell'Arcadia" for the Editions of History and Literature, divided into two series, one of "Acts and Memories of the Arcadia" and one of "Studies and texts", which both testify to the continuity of the cultural mission of the 'Academy, between innovation and tradition.
