National Museum of the Alta Val d'Agri

The National Museum of the Alta Val d'Agri is a state archaeological collection located in Grumento Nova, in the province of Potenza, near the Pietra del Pertusillo lake.

It preserves the artifacts found throughout the Val d'Agri (in particular those of the Roman city of Grumentum) and testimonies of wine and Magna Graecia.

Since December 2014 the museum has been managed by the Basilicata museum complex.

The museum is located in a two-storey building, with two main sections: the ground floor dedicated to the pre-Roman era, and the basement dedicated to Roman finds, with numerous didactic panels that reconstruct the appearance of the main monuments of the city.
